The Consort of Ladies, inspired by the Three Ladies of Ferrara, the first group of well-born ladies making up a performing ensemble, which leads directly to the ensemble singing in Monteverdi and the Seconda Practica. We will concentrate on works of that composer, as well as Luzzasco Luzzaschi and Barbara Strozzi, culminating in the incredibly powerful works of Handel. Our soloists will be the brilliant young singers featured recently by DBS, including Taylor Fenner and Kara McBain, sopranos, and Lauren Salazar, alto.
