Harpsichord concert with Malcolm Matthews
Newly hired by UNT as Assistant Professor of organ and harpsichord, Malcolm Matthews will bring one of his four harpsichords to charm us with a variety of compositions from the baroque period.  His program presents an opportunity to compare the emotion and ornamentation of the Spanish composers with the classical restraint and symmetry of the French. Scarlatti’s Sonatas and the delightful “Cat’s Fugue” will delight the audience as well as Felix Lopez’s spicy “Fandango Variation” and Albero’s little -known “Recercata”. A collection of bird songs (“La Rappel des Oiseaux” and “Le Poule”) and other colorful works by the master musician and music theorist Jean-Philippe Rameau are accompanied by opera composer Pancrace Royer’s “Vertigo (Rondeau)” in the French contingent.

Hosted in the elegant music room of prominent music patrons Enika and Richard Schulze.
The afternoon starts with a wine reception, concert, and light collation during intermission.
