Bolivian Voices – Beautiful Art Songs and Chamber music from the Bolivian Missions

Featuring Allison Stanford-Jones, soprano, Bolivian Masaru Sakuma, piano; and Mark Landson, violin/viola along with ONS slideshows of touring in Bolivia and Mexico.

Fulbright Scholar to Bolivia, Stanford-Jones researched, taught and performed in La Paz where she specialized in Bolivian art song. This program developed with colleagues Landson and Sakuma presents contemporary as well as baroque works from a country with an extraordinary musical history. They will feature an enthralling song cycle “Monologues of the Desert” by Nicolás Suárez which mixes traditional and contemporary sounds.
