BIO
Dwight Rhoden, Co-Founder, Co-Artistic Director, and Principal Choreographer of Complexions Contemporary Ballet, has built a wide-ranging career recognized by The New York Times as “one of the most sought-after choreographers of the day.” A former principal dancer with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, he has also performed with Dayton Contemporary Dance Company and Les Ballets Jazz de Montréal. In 1994, he co-founded Complexions with Desmond Richardson, establishing a company known for its innovative, genre-defying approach to contemporary ballet. Over three decades, Rhoden has created more than 100 works for Complexions and choreographed for major companies including Ailey, New York City Ballet, Miami City Ballet, PHILADANCO!, and the Mariinsky Ballet. His work spans stage, television, and collaborations with artists such as Prince and Lenny Kravitz. He is the recipient of numerous honors, including a New York Foundation for the Arts Award and an honorary doctorate from the Boston Conservatory.
