Experience this unforgettable production featuring the highly anticipated Dallas premiere of Trey McIntyre’s Robust American Love, a revival of our late founder Bruce Wood’s classical masterpiece Concerto No. 3, and acclaimed choreographer Robert Battle’s irresistible Bad Dog No Biscuits. Overflowing with athleticism, soul, and theatrical brilliance, this spectacular finale will leave you soaring long after the curtain comes down.
Hailed as “a small American masterpiece” by Oregon ArtsWatch, Trey McIntyre’s Robust American Love is a masterfully crafted work that explores the rugged terrain of the pre-Civil War pioneer spirit and an open-hearted sense of adventure. Named after a poem by Walt Whitman, this poignant piece is set to the rich, haunting indie-folk harmonies of Seattle’s Fleet Foxes. In this Dallas premiere, McIntyre—internationally celebrated for his visceral and emotionally charged choreography—blends tender human vulnerability with fierce, athletic grit, delivering a sweeping journey into the heart of the American dream.
Rarely seen since its 2002 Fort Worth debut, Bruce Wood’s Piano Concerto No. 3 pulls you straight into Tchaikovsky’s lush, dramatic score. From the moment the curtain rises, eight extraordinary dancers surge across the stage in dazzling swirls of purple, lilac, and motion. Breathtaking lifts and dynamic athleticism evoke a summer breeze moving through a garden in full bloom—fast, joyful, and visually stunning, transporting you to a world of romance and visual magic.
Bad Dog No Biscuits by Robert Battleis an exhilarating work from one of modern dance’s most dynamic and inventive voices. Celebrated worldwide for his athleticism and theatrical brilliance, Battle, former artistic director of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and current resident choreographer for the Paul Taylor Dance Company, delivers a high-spirited and deeply human work that will leave you breathless. Set to a playful, jazz-infused score featuring Dizzy Gillespie, Chet Baker, Sean Jones, and Seatbelts, this high-energy, exuberant showcase is a dazzling testament to Battle’s signature wit, energy, and rhythmic genius.
American Love brings our 17th season to a close with a grand celebration of artistry, heart, and breathtaking movement.
