The Viennese had their symphonies, the Italians their operas, and the Spanish the street theater and the liturgy. While the King worshiped to the sounds of the Capilla Real, the people flocked to the public theaters for the major writers, and the half-time intermission of the tonadillas – intermezzos – for real entertainment.
Join us for this popular program of works. Backdrop for the voices will be the orchestra, including Haydn as a symphonist preferred by the Spanish court.
