Bruce Wood Dance Presents UNITE

Friday + Saturday, June 4 + 5 at 8:00 PM
Sunday June 6 at 2:00 PM

Bruce Wood Dance is back with “in-person” performances at Moody Performance Hall. UNITE emphasizes the power of dance––to spark laughter, to inspire awe, to invite empathy, and to unite. Limited capacity of 207 seats per show. COVID safety measures observed––distance between seats and masks are encouraged. The show runs for 90 minutes with no intermission.

UNITE will uplift and intrigue with world premieres by Omar Román De Jesús and Joy Bollinger and two captivating works by Bruce Wood®️.

Sombreristas is created exclusively for Bruce Wood Dance by Omar Román De Jesús—artistic director of New York-based Boca Tuya. Steeped in Latin culture, Sombreristas is set on a cast of a dozen dancers and an equal cohort of hats.

Blue is by artistic director Joy Bollinger and woven from stories of loneliness and resiliency experienced during the pandemic. Ranging from calm to complicated, the work moves through Beethoven’s Piano Sonata #14 in C Sharp Minor, also known as the Moonlight Sonata.

Hide Me Angel and Requiem are from the distinguished repertoire of Bruce Wood. Commissioned by TITAS/DANCE UNBOUND for the Command Performance Gala in 2014, Hide Me Angel is Wood’s last completed work. This poignant male duet is a meditation on life. Requiem brings the show to a rousing finale. Recognized as one of Wood’s masterpieces, Requiem is a resounding call to unite and sing hallelujah in praise of community.
