Music director Gregory Hustis has chosen a century spanning program of Russian masterworks for the Metropolitan Winds’ spring program. The program will start in the 19th century with a transcription of Glinka’s Russlan and Ludmilla overture, moving on to Tchaikovsky’s phenomenally popular 1812 Overture. Then, on to the 20th century, the group will present the finale from Aram Khachaturian’s Symphony #2, “The Bell”, transcribed by Winds percussionist and Assistant Conductor, Kevin Kasper. The concert will conclude with an all – Shostakovich second half, including transcriptions of Festive Overture, selections from Jazz Suite #2, and the Finale from Symphony #5. We invite everyone to come and hear this incredible program brought to life with the dynamic excitement that is the signature capability of the Metropolitan Winds. It will all take place at 2:00PM on Saturday, April 25th, at the Moody Performance Hall in the Dallas Arts district. Tickets are available from TicketDFW.com / 214.871.5000 or at the door.
