Overview

Ballet North Texas is thrilled to present a sensory-friendly performance of The Nutcracker Suite for children, families and adults with sensory sensitivities, autism spectrum disorder or other special needs. Appropriate changes will be made to this performance to create a welcoming and safe space for all in attendance.

A perfect introduction to the beloved classic, The Nutcracker. This performance opens in Act II with the Sugar Plum Fairing introducing all the characters of the Land of Sweets. The Nutcracker Prince, himself presents Clara to the Sugar Plum Fairy and they tell the story of Clara’s adventure, breaking the Nutcracker spell, and defeat of the Rat King. In celebration, the Sugar Plum Fairy offers all the treats of the land, accompanied by dances from each country. The final performance is by the newly reunited Sugar Plum Fairy and Nutcracker Prince, to one of the most famous and treasured pieces of the entire ballet. A magnificent grand finale brings the festival to its thrilling conclusion as Clara begins her journey home, waking on the couch in the parlor. Was it all a dream or … did it really happen?
